Measure the opening of the door frame and note the measurements. Remove from the frame any remnant of the previous door installation, including hinges and latch insets.
Mark a 1 1/2-inch-thick door board with measurements that are an inch smaller in length and width than the door frame. Do this to compensate for the free-swinging motion rather than the sealing one of a standard door. Cut out the door from the door board using a circular saw.
Position three dual-swinging hinges evenly spaced against the door frame. Mark the location of the screw holes on the frame and remove the hinges. Drill into each hole to a depth of 2 inches. Reposition the hinges on the frame and set 2-inch wood screws in each hole. Tighten the screws into the door frame to mount the hinges.
Hold the door board up against the hinges so that it clears the floor and can swing freely. Mark the location of the hinge screw holes in the side of the door. Drill out just one hole in each hinge and set a 1-inch wood screw in that hole. Tighten each screw down and test the swinging ability of the door. Drill the rest of the holes and firmly fasten the hinge to the door with 1-inch wood screws if the door swings freely. Reposition the screws as needed if the door encounters the frame and cannot swing freely.
