Instructions

    • 1

Remove existing doors. Unscrew all hardware and take the door down. You also need to repair the wall where the other door was hanging. This could include filling nail holes with putty and painting over the filled holes. Let the paint dry before installing the new door.

    • 2

Measure the opening of the closet. Closets that measure wider than 36 inches need four panels, and closets that are smaller need only two.

    • 3

Measure the height of the space in front of the closet, and purchase a door that meets these height specifications.

    • 4

Paint the doors if you wish before installing them.

    • 5

Unpack the track and hardware that came with your doors. To determine the length of the track, subtract 1/4 inch from the closet’s width, and divide by two.

    • 6

Cut off the excess track with a hacksaw.

    • 7

Mark a center line at the top of the closet, to represent the exact center of the closet.

    • 8

Attach the two pieces of track on either side of the marked line on the top of the closet with your screws. Some kits will come with a plate to line up the two track pieces, which will create one seamless track. Attach that to the two track pieces before screwing them to the top of the closet, if needed.

    • 9

Set the top pivot into the top pivot hole that should already be drilled into your door.

    • 10

Tap it into position with the hammer.

    • 11

Repeat this with the guide pivot that goes into the guide door. Hammer the top pivot and the guide pivot into the other door as you did the first door.

    • 12

Set the jamb bracket on the floor directly underneath the top track pieces so that the top and bottom of your door line up.

    • 13

Drill the jamb into the floor. Secure the bracket with screws.

    • 14

Set the door in place by placing the top pivot into the pivot hole and the bottom pivot into the jamb bracket.

    • 15

      Repeat with the other door.
