Instructions

    • 1

Assemble the Pella screen door according to the directions in the owner’s manual. The different parts of the door frame are marked for easy identification, and the hardware is provided with the assembly.

    • 2

Slide the header frame to one side along the top of the entryway and calculate the gap at the top. Reduce a large gap to less than 1/4 inch by hammering shims on the hinge side. If the gap measures less than 1/4 inch, slide the frame along the middle, with its edges in line with the brick mold.

    • 3

Drill 3/32-inch pilot holes through the corners of the header frame. Drive the screws provided with the assembly into the holes to secure the frame.

    • 4

Ask a helper to hold the Pella screen door in the opening or entryway. Drill five pilot holes through the side of the door with the hinges. Insert screws into the holes and entryway to secure the door. Drill a row of evenly spaced holes along the hinged side. Drive the screws provided with the assembly into the holes.

    • 5

Set a retainer strip over the four edges of the screen panel. Insert the upper and lower strips of the screen panel into the door frame, followed by the vertical strips.

    • 6

Drill a row of five holes into the frame on the side opposite the hinges. Drive screws into the holes and entryway. Follow label directions for installing the handle into the holes provided on the door.

    • 7

Hold the upper mounting frame over the upper edge of the entryway. Drill a hole on each end frame and insert a screw into each one.

    • 8

Set the upper and lower closer bases on the mounting frame and drive screws to secure them. Set the closers on the bases and rotate counterclockwise until secure.
