How to Attach Flush Mounts to a Ceiling

Flush mounts are a type of hardware with two sections. The first piece is attached to a flat surface, such as a wall or ceiling, and the second piece is attached to an object. The two pieces join together to mount the object to the flat surface. On the ceiling, a flush mount may be used to attach objects such as a light fixture or a projector. Attaching the flush mount to the ceiling is a simple process.

Instructions

    • 1

Run a stud finder along the ceiling until you locate a cross-beam in the area where you need to install the flush mount. Mark the location with a pencil.

    • 2

Separate the two pieces of the flush mount. Attach one side to the object you’ll be mounting. Hold the other section of the flush mount up to the ceiling by your pencil mark. Mark through any screw holes in the mount onto the ceiling.

    • 3

Remove the flush mount and drill pilot holes for the screws at the location of your marks.

    • 4

Line up the flush mount with the pilot holes on the ceiling. Screw into place to finish the attaching process.
