Instructions

    • 1

Plug in the handheld engraver tool and place the wooden cutting board in front of you horizontally.

    • 2

Select a stencil of your choice, such as an intricate flower or simple design. Place it on the broad-top surface of the chopping board. Hold it in place with a couple of strips of tape around the edges.

    • 3

Hold the engraver in your dominant hand, which is the hand with which you write. Apple the tip of the engraver to the board within the stencil and power it on via the switch near your thumb. Follow the outline of the stencil firmly, making sure not to stop and go too often. Stopping and going causes imbalances in the engraving.

    • 4

Trace over the stenciled outline once or twice more to give the engraving more depth. Remove the stencil from the board. The result is an embossed image of your choosing. Wash the board with normal warm water and soap. Pat it dry.

    • 5

Soak a linen rag with peanut oil and buff the entire surface of the wood chopping board. This seasons the board while making the decorative engraving more noticeable.
