Locate the circuit breaker for the building. Turn off the power to the current light fixture.
Place a ladder beneath the existing ceiling light fixture. The ceilings in a lot of commercial buildings are tall and require a tall ladder. Check the ladder to ensure that it is securely placed before getting onto it.
Unscrew the base of the existing light fixture with a screwdriver. Carefully lower the light fixture and set it down on the top of the ladder while you disconnect the wiring. Remove the wire nuts from the top of the wires and finish removing the light fixture from the ceiling. Have a partner at the bottom of the ladder so you can hand the light fixture down to them.
Remove a half inch of protective insulation from the ends of the wires in the new commercial fixture with wire strippers.
Place the mounting bracket for the commercial light fixture on the electrical box. Screw the mounting bracket into place with the included screws and a screwdriver.
Connect the wires. Put together the white wires in the commercial fixture and the ceiling electrical box. Twist the ends of the wires together with your fingers and twist a wire nut over the top of the exposed wires. Repeat with the black wires and green ground wires.
Stuff the wiring up into the ceiling electrical box. Screw the canopy of the commercial fixture to the mounting bracket.
Thread light bulbs into the fixture per manufacturer directions. Turn the power on to the fixture.
