Shut off power to the ceiling fan outlet box by either turning off the circuit breaker or pulling the fuse on the circuit that the ceiling fan outlet box is on.
Install a 1/4-inch drill bit into a cordless drill, following the drill manufacturer's instructions. Remove the center plug from the ceiling fan wiring box by prying the plug out with a standard screwdriver and twisting it off with a pair of pliers. Drill a 1/4-inch hole, 3 inches deep into the wood that supports the ceiling fan wiring box, ensuring that the hole is drilled in the center where the knockout was removed.
Run the wiring from the wiring box through the keyhole slot in the crossbar mounting brace. Mount the crossbar mounting brace to the wiring box by installing a flat washer on the screws provided and threading the screws into the wiring box. Do not fully tighten.
Guide the 5-inch-long 3/8-inch lag screw and flat washer through the center hole in the crossbar mounting brace and into the pilot hole in the support timber. Tighten the lag screw with the appropriate size wrench from a toolkit and then the crossbar mounting bracket screws securely with the screwdriver that came with the fan.
Guide the wiring from the wiring box through the opening in the canopy. Attach the canopy to the crossbar mounting brace by guiding the mounting screws and lock washers through the holes in the canopy and into the corresponding holes in the crossbar mounting brace. Tighten the canopy screws with the wrench that came with the ceiling fan until the canopy is snug against the ceiling.
Sandwich a fan blade between a front and back medallion plate, ensuring that all four holes on the blade, front medallion plate and rear medallion plate are aligned. Guide four mounting screws through the four outer holes in the rear plate, through the fan blade and into the front medallion plate. Tighten the screws with the screwdriver. Attach the blade to the blade iron by guiding the two blade mounting screws through the top of the blade iron and threading them into the two corresponding holes in the rear medallion plate. Tighten the screws with the screwdriver. Repeat for all fan blades.
Remove the shipping blocks attached to the motor plate by removing the attaching screws with a screwdriver provided. Install the blade iron onto the rotating motor plate using the screw that secured the shipping block and one other identical screw, included with the ceiling fan. Repeat for each blade iron.
Use the Allen wrench, included with the ceiling fan, to remove the Allen screw from the hangar adapter. Thread the down rod into the motor coupling and turn it until it is tight, ensuring that the down rod has bottomed out in the motor coupling. Thread the Allen screw into its hole and tighten it securely with the Allen wrench. When the screw is tight enough, the down rod will not be able to turn counterclockwise.
Hang the fan motor in the canopy by inserting the ball on top of the fan into the canopy, ensuring that no wires are pinched. Rotate the fan motor assembly until the slot in the ball fits into the pin that is opposite the canopy opening.
Trim the wiring coming out of the fan so 6 inches a wiring is exposed. Strip 1/2 inch of insulation from each wire using a wire stripper. Connect the black fan wire to the power wire from the ceiling fan wire box, the white fan wire to the neutral wire from the ceiling fan wire box in the green fan wire to the ground wire from the ceiling wire box. Secure each connection with a wire nut. Tuck the wiring into the ceiling fan wire box.
Install the canopy hatch by guiding the last canopy attachment screw and flat washer into the appropriate hole in the crossbar bracket. Tighten the screw with the screwdriver.
Install any lighting packages or optional accessories, following the instructions for the particular fan installation.
Turn on the circuit breaker or replace the fuse on the fan circuit and test the operation of the fan, using either the wall switch or remote control that came with the fan, completing the installation of the Casablanca fan.
