How to Hang a Drywall Ceiling in a Log Home

Log homes are unique in their aesthetics, creating an outdoors, woodsy feel even when you're inside. Instructions

    • 1

Fasten vapor barrier to the ceiling using stainless steel nails and a nail gun. This will act as a barrier to any moisture creep and keep the drywall from becoming damp.

    • 2

Attach furring strips to the ceiling with more stainless steel nails and a nail gun. This will allow you to fasten the drywall to the ceiling.

    • 3

Fasten drywall sheets to the furring strips by using drywall screws and a screw gun, spacing the screws about 10 to 12 inches apart.

    • 4

Tape the joints where the drywall panels meet with drywall tape, then spread joint compound over the tape using a drywall knife.

    • 5

Attach medium-grit sandpaper to an orbital sander and smooth out the joint compound once it has completely dried.

    • 6

Fill a paint tray with interior ceiling paint and using a roller, paint the drywall ceiling in a color of your choosing to finish the drywall ceiling installation.
