Instructions

  1. Cut the Vinyl to Size

    • 1

Measure the dimensions of the floor area where you would like to install the vinyl, using a measuring tape. Mark the dimensions onto a piece of paper.

    • 2

Roll out the vinyl in an open space. Mark out the dimensions you took in step 1 onto the vinyl using a white board pen, using the measuring tape to help you transcribe the measurements accurately. For best results, use a carpenter's square to make sure that your corners are at perfect 90 degree angles.

    • 3

Cut the vinyl along your marked measurements. Hold a straight edge along the measurement line and use a flooring knife to make the cut. Cut slowly and carefully; a mistake could make it necessary to start over.

    • 4

Wipe off any remaining pen markings, using a damp sponge.

    • 5

Roll up the vinyl and transport it to the location where you will be installing the new floor.

    Install the Vinyl

    • 6

Remove debris from the floor where you will be installing the vinyl, using a vacuum.

    • 7

Unroll the vinyl sheet to make sure that it fits the floor before you begin the gluing process. If necessary, remove any excess vinyl using the flooring knife. When you are done, roll up half of the vinyl.

    • 8

Spread a line of epoxy, roughly a foot in width, using a notched trowel. Spread the epoxy right next to the rolled up vinyl, as you will be working your way from the center of the room to the outside edge of the room.

    • 9

Unroll the vinyl onto the epoxy, pressing it into the glue. Use a straight edge or a rolling pin to make sure that the vinyl is sticking evenly, and to remove any air bubbles.

    • 10

Repeat steps 3 and 4 until you have glued and unrolled the vinyl onto half of the floor.

    • 11

Repeat the instillation process detailed in steps 3, 4 and 5 to glue the sheet vinyl floor onto the other half of the room.

    • 12

Allow the glue to dry completely before installing wood molding.
