How to Remove Carpet Tacks From Concrete

The edges of carpet are secured to the floor by way of tack strips. Tack strips are wood strips that, as their name suggests, feature several rows of tacks that point upward. The strips are secured to the floor with nails. In the case of concrete floors, masonry nails are used to secure the strips. The challenge in removing the strips is accessing the nails heads to pry them out of the floor.
