Prepare the carpet to be stretched so that wrinkles can be removed. Remove all objects and furniture from the room. If the turf carpet is being installed for the first time, then removing the wrinkles will be easier, but it is possible to remove them even if the carpet has been in place for a while. Untack the carpet from the walls and break the adhesive bond. Roll up the carpet into the middle of the room.
Reapply the adhesive. Make sure to use an all-weather carpet adhesive. Most turf carpets are installed outdoors or in areas where moisture is high. Place the adhesive around the edges of the room and apply a second line of adhesive closer to the middle of the room. Roll the carpet back into place.
Use a professional carpet roller to roll over the carpet, starting in the middle and working toward the edges of the room. Go slowly, making sure the carpet is not bunching up in any area.
Stretch the carpet at the walls and edges to achieve the best fit. Stretch horizontally, vertically and diagonally from each corner. This step works best if several people pull on the carpet from both sides at once.
Use a carpet trowel to push the edges of the carpet onto the carpet tacks. Use a hammer to gently tack the edges of the carpet into the tacks. If there is any excess carpet, use a carpet cutter to trim away the extra. Replace the furniture and other objects.
