Beaulieu Carpet Installation Instructions

Beaulieu/Coronet, the manufacturer of Beaulieu carpet, is the third largest carpet producer in the world. It is a high-quality, affordable carpet. There is a wide variety of colors and textures to choose from to complement any décor. It is available only through carpet retailers and installation should be done by a professional.
  1. Preparation Requirements

    • The temperature in the installation area must be between 65 and 95 degrees Fahrenheit and the humidity must be between 10 and 65 percent. The temperature of the subfloor must be above 65 degrees. These temperature and humidity levels must stay constant for 48 hours before and after the carpet is installed. The adhesive that will be used to glue down the carpet and glue the seams must be left in the area to adjust to the temperature and humidity. Concrete subfloors must have an alkalinity level between five and nine and a moisture level rating between three and five. New concrete is sealed with a sealant compatible with the adhesive for the carpet. Make sure the floor is clean and dry prior to carpet installation.

    Installation

    • Beaulieu carpet should be installed by a Floor Covering Installation Board certified installer who is in compliance with the FCIB certification program, or is certified by either the Floor Covering Installation Contractors Association or the Certified Floorcovering Installers Association. Failure to use proper installation procedures could result in voiding the warranty. Installation instructions must be strictly followed. Row cut the edges on pattern when cutting the carpet to fit in the room. Determine where the carpet should be trimmed, open the tufted row with a flat blade screwdriver, then cut along the row with a loop pile or cushion back cutter. Replace the cutting blades often for a clean neat edge. Use a straight edge for cutting carpet with a pattern printed on it. Row cutting will not work on printed pattern carpet because the pattern is printed on after tufting.

Use a continuous bead of adhesive that covers the primary backing, yarn bundles, and secondary backing to seal the seams. The adhesive can be solvent or non-solvent based. Apply latex seam adhesive to seal the edges and allow it to dry before hot melt seaming. Use a transition strip or molding when joining the carpet with another flooring material, between rooms for example, and make sure the edges are sealed first.

If the carpet is installed over a pad, the pad must not be any thicker than a quarter inch, and adhesive must be applied between the subfloor and pad and between the pad and carpet. Carpet seams when installed over a pad must be at right angles to the pad seams or offset by sixinches.

A Senior Power Stretcher must be used for stretching and pattern matching of direct and double glue Beaulieu Commercial printed pattern carpet. Use the stretcher for positioning and pattern matching only. Do not use the stretcher for final installation.

Do not walk on the carpet for at least 48 hours after installation.
