Sweep the floor with a broom to remove any dirt, grime or debris. Inspect the floor for any protruding screws, nails or defects on the surface.
Check the outdoor temperature, using a thermometer. Install the outdoor carpet when the temperature is below 85 degrees and the humidity level is low. High humidity will prevent the carpet adhesives from adhering to the floor.
Roll out the carpet over the desired area. Make sure the carpet extends to every corner of the area and covers the entire space.
Draw a line on the carpet with a piece of chalk to determine where you will cut the carpet. Cut the carpet to fit the area, using a utility knife.
Roll back one side the carpet to expose the floor. Apply good-quality double-sided tape to the floor along the edge of the space.
Lay the carpet carefully over the tape. Press down on the carpet to ensure it is fully adhered to the floor. Continue taping down the other three sides of the carpet the same way you did the first edge.
