How to Install Carpet on the Ceiling

As odd as it may sound, some people put carpeting on the ceiling. Installing a carpet on the ceiling can create better acoustics in the room or add a form of insulation to protect the room from drafts. Carpeting on the ceiling can also reduce the noise made by upstairs neighbors in apartment buildings. Do-it-yourselfers are capable of handling the installation process.

Instructions

    • 1

Cut the carpet into 4-by-4-foot squares that you can hold above your head while working, using a razor knife.

    • 2

Climb the ladder and hold a corner of the carpeting to a corner of the wall.

    • 3

Staple the carpet corner in place and then staple the edges. Use plenty of staples throughout the carpet to prevent sagging.

Place seaming tape on the edges of each carpeting square.

    • 5

Heat the seaming iron and press it on the seaming tape for 30 seconds.

Press the carpet edges down firmly on the seaming tape.

    • 7

Repeat the process to attain the desired coverage.
