How to Cover Carpet Burns

Carpet burns can be an unsightly blot that takes away from your room's décor. Professional repair or full carpet replacement can be costly; fixing the carpet yourself will take time and know-how. One option left outside of these is to simply cover the carpet burn. This allows for an immediate correction to the unsightly problem and will typically cost you less money. The biggest issue to covering a burn depends on the location of the problem. This will dictate how you cover the spot.

Instructions

    • 1

Wash the burn with a soapy water solution. This will remove any charred bits and help lighten the spot. Allow the spot to dry fully --- about 24 hours --- before covering.

    • 2

Arrange furniture to cover the burned spot. Move couches, chairs, end tables or lamps to cover spots located close to a wall.

    • 3

Place a rug over the carpet burn. Large burn spots or those in the middle of a room will probably require an area rug for full coverage.

    • 4

Trim the burn marks with scissors from the burnt carpet. Apply a few drops of superglue to obscure the melted carpet fibers.
