How to Use Carpet Scraps

Before tossing those leftover carpet scraps, from your recent carpet installation, look around the home and garage for ways to use them. Large scrap pieces can be cut for smaller uses, while joining several pieces together can form a cushion for a dog house. Store the carpet scraps in a dry location, such as an attic or garage, and put them to use as different projects arise.

Instructions

    • 1

Nail down scraps of carpet on the floor of your dog house. Cut the scrapes with a sharp utility knife, if needed, to make them fit flush on the floor. Hammer nails into each scrap to keep them from moving.

    • 2

Place square carpet scraps under the feet of large chairs or tables, when moving across a hardwood or tile floor, to keep from scratching the surface.

    • 3

Lay a large scrap of carpet in the garage, in front of the work table. The cushion helps prevent sore feet and legs, from standing on concrete.

    • 4

Wedge carpet scraps under the washer, to muffle the noise during the spin cycle.

    • 5

Lay a scrap of carpet in the sink when cleaning tools. Metal tools can leave scratch marks on sinks, and the carpet scrap protects the surface. Discard the scrap after cleaning the tools.

    • 6

Use carpet scraps as knee guards. Scrubbing the floor or working in the garden, the scraps can protect and cushion your knees.
