Instructions

  1. Template

Press the kraft paper onto the floor's entire surface, allowing the edges to bend upward in the corners and along the edges of the walls.

    • 2

Draw a line on the kraft paper, following the entire edge of the floor. By marking a line along the edge of the floor and along the the bottom edge of the wall, you will create a "stencil" that will help you shape the carpet.

    • 3

Tear the kraft paper as necessary to fit around seat support beams.

    • 4

Place the kraft paper onto your section of carpet.

    • 5

Cut the carpet in the shape of the stencil using the carpenter's knife and the metal ruler for long, straight sections. Make sure to cut approximately 1/4 inch to 1/2 inch outside of the black marker line.

    • 6

Cut slots in the carpet as indicated by the torn kraft paper to accommodate seat support columns.

      Press the carpet into place.

    • 8

Staple one edge of the carpet into place using the staple gun, making sure to position the staples approximately 8 to 10 inches apart.

    • 9

Lay strips of carpet glue along the entire length of the carpet approximately 4 inches apart using the glue gun and carpet glue.

    • 10

Press the carpet against the glue, pressing the entire surface against the floor.

    • 11

Wipe the carpet with your hands to get rid of any air pockets or wrinkles.
