Set your piece of granite slab on top of a cutting table and use the clamps to lock the piece of slab in place. You do not want the slab moving during the cutting process because that could bind the blade in the rock. You could actually warp the blade, making it impossible to cut without replacing it with a new one. If possible, set up your cutting area outdoors because wet cutting granite is messy.
Mark your piece of granite slab according to the dimensions you need for your benchtop. Use a grease pencil to mark the granite. Choose a color of pencil that stands out from the color of the stone so you can clearly see the mark while cutting. Regular pencils don't work because the marks will wash off during cutting.
Set up your wet handheld saw. Put on all of your safety gear. Use the saw exactly like a circular saw. Place the blade of the saw along the edge of the piece of granite, pull the trigger, and push the blade through the granite slab along your cut mark. Go slowly and don’t let the blade bog down. Refill the water reservoir as necessary to keep the blade cooled.
