How Does Cool Blue Welding Paste Work?

Muggy Weld LLC manufactures Cool Blue heat-resistant welding paste. You can purchase the paste directly from Muggy Weld or at a home repair store. You apply Cool Blue heat paste during the welding process to help protect the surfaces around the weld site to reduce heat transfer to unnecessary areas.
  1. Purpose

    • The paste prevents the area it covers from warping or from heating up from the heat coming from the area that you are welding. Once applied, the paste will not allow heat to expand beyond the area you have applied the paste, it will only allow heat to penetrate the area that is not covered by the paste, being the area that you are welding. It is used to protect heat-sensitive areas from damage and to allow you to make the weld repairs without having to disassemble parts in fear of heat damage.

    Usable Surfaces

    • Cool Blue paste is safe to use on most areas, such as wood, glass, painted surfaces, chrome, plastic, vinyl, rubber and metal. If you need to weld a steel area that has a rubber hose attached to it, you would apply the Cool Blue paste on the steel area between the rubber hose and the area that you are welding. The paste will trap the heat and eliminate it from transferring to the rubber hose, which will protect the rubber hose from melting.

    Application

    • Cool Blue comes in a jar or a tube. The paste is non-toxic and it will not harm your skin, but Muggy Weld LLC recommends that it is always best to wear gloves when handling the paste. To apply it, mix it up with a spoon, scoop out enough to cover the area you would like to protect, and then mold it onto the surface. You can use as much paste as desired as it will not harm the surface. Once you have finished the welding job, allow the area to cool, and then wipe off the Cool Blue paste. The paste wipes off easily and it will not dry onto the surface during the weld. Wash off the welded area with water to remove any paste remnants.

    Reusable

    • When you are finished with the Cool Blue paste, you can return it to the container. Over time, the paste may begin to dry out from use, but you can add a few drops of water to it and then mix it together. The water will rehydrate it and it will not dilute the paste. The paste will not breakdown from the heat so you can reuse it indefinitely.
