How to Pour Cement From a Skips on a Crane

A crane is the ideal option for pouring cement over a large area, with an incredible range of skips available to the builder, depending on their specific needs. These can be used to accurately choose the direction and speed of cement flow, providing solid foundations to any building project that will last for decades.

Instructions

    • 1

Mix the cement powder with water in a traditional cement mixer, ensuring that the cement is stirred continuously until you are happy with the consistency.

    • 2

Ensure the skip is securely closed and empty the cement mixer into it at ground level. Most skips are low enough that this will not be a problem, while some models tip slightly horizontally to make pouring easier before being hoisted upright once more for discharge.

    • 3

Attach the skip to the crane hoist if you have not already done so.

    • 4

Lift the skip to the desired height using the crane hoist.

    • 5

Open the skip to discharge the cement. In some models, this will be done by hand, using a wheel attached to the side of the skip. Other skips are opened by the crane operator. In this case, the skip will be attached to two separate hoists, with the second hoist designed to pull the skip open when required.
