Severe Weather Railing for a Deck

Definition

• Severe Weather railing is a composite type of railing, but it should not be confused with composite materials made out of recycled wood. This railing is custom-designed,with slots in the baseboards and cross-pieces so that the rails can lock into each other, providing a more stable framework. The boards are typically bonded together using strong PVC glue and caps.

Materials

• The core of the railing is made from a wood-resin material, and it is surrounded by a durable coating made from plastic, fiberglass or other strong materials. Some versions are not composite at all, but are made entirely from vinyl. The coatings are available in a number of different colors and styles for use on various decks.

Benefits

• Severe Weather railing is generally simple to install because of its interlocking patterns and it can often be set up more quickly than other railing options. Its tough, protective coatings do not need to be repainted the same way that wood does. There are also options that allow you to add latticework.

Types

• Not all boards or railing are made the same way for Severel Weather materials. Some railings are more ornate and come with double layers and rounded or domed tops.
