Anchoring Specs for Manufactured Homes in Washington State

Manufactured homes installed in Washington must be installed to the manufacturer's instructions or those of a certified engineer or architect. Local governments cannot introduce anchoring specifications for manufactured homes.
  1. Standards

    • Relocated manufactured homes are subject to anchoring requirements in the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) A225.1 for relocated homes standard. Certified manufactured home installers must install homes in Washington and place tags on the home confirming they completed all installation work.

    Dealers

    • Manufactured homes placed on dealer's lots are exempt from Washington manufactured home anchoring requirements. Apart from those positioned on dealer's lots, all manufactured homes in Washington must be permanently anchored.

    Spacing

    • To ensure safety anchors for manufactured homes must be positioned due to the instructions of manufacturers or a licensed engineer or architect. Inspectors of manufactured homes must check the anchoring meets state legislature requirements.
