Choose the location of the intended lumber storage room in your home or workshop. Construct any necessary stud walls to enclose the room out of the 2-by-4 lumber with the hammer and nails. Depending upon the chosen location, you may only need to build one or two walls to enclose the room. Make sure to leave a rough opening the proper size to fit the pre-hung door in the desired location. Hang the drywall on the stud walls using the electric screw gun and dry wall screws. The drywall should be attached to the outside faces of the walls to leave the studs on the interior of the room exposed for lumber rack hanging.
Remove the door from the door jam by gently hammering the pins out of the hinges, and attach the jam into the rough opening in the wall by hammering it into place. Re-hang the door in the jam.
Hire an electrician to wire outlets and lighting fixtures in the lumber storage room. Have the electrician install the unit heater and hygrostat and wire them together properly so that the hygrostat will automatically start and stop the heater to reach the proper temperature and humidity level. Plug in a dehumidifier in the room and set it to the desired humidity level.
Stack the lumber in tight piles on the floor of the room. Lumber racks can also be installed along the walls for additional storage.
