How to Set Up a Stained Glass Workshop in Your Garage

Your garage can serve more purposes than just housing your vehicle and standard tools. You can also transform the garage into a type of hobby shop. For example, if you enjoy creating stained-glass pieces of art, you can set up a stained-glass workshop. You don't have to use the whole garage; one corner should be plenty of space to set up everything you need.

Instructions

    • 1

Clear out a space in the garage that's large enough for a stained-glass workshop. You will need at least a space of about 5 by 10 feet.

    • 2

Set up two tables for the stained-glass workshop. Each table should be at least 30 by 62 inches. Use the first table for designing stained-glass pieces. Also use this table for assembly, foiling and soldering. The second table is for cutting and scoring.

    • 3

Add some cabinet or other storage space to the stained-glass workshop. Some supplies you need to store include glass, soldering, cutting and scoring tools and foil, as well as other tools and supplies.

    • 4

Invest in additional lighting. One light in the center of the garage will not be enough. The shadows created by a single light would inhibit your work. Instead, use spot or track lighting above the work areas to illuminate the entire space.
