DIY Projector Stand

A projector stand is used to hold, store and roll around projectors from room to room. They are used in classrooms, for conferences and for other types of business meetings. A versatile projector stand will be able to hold the projector, laptop, files or even a computer. These features make it simple for you to have all of your necessary supplies while giving a presentation. Projector stands can be made simply and inexpensively with yard lumber, basic tools and little carpentry experience.

Instructions

    • 1

Set the 24-inch boards on edge, parallel so their outside edges are 24 inches apart. Lay the 24-by-24-inch plywood on top of the boards so the edges are flush with the sides and ends of the board. Screw the plywood to the board using six screws. This is the base to your projector stand.

    • 2

Set two 14-inch boards on edge so they are parallel and their outside edges are 24 inches apart. Lay a 14-by-24-inch sheet of plywood on top of the boards so its edges are flush with the sides and ends of the boards. Use six screws for this task. This is your projector shelf. Repeat this step by using the last 14-inch boards and 14-by-24-inch plywood to make your laptop shelf.

    • 3

Position the two 40-inch boards on end, parallel, so their 5 ½-inch wide surfaces are facing each other and 24 inches apart. Lay the base between the boards so the 24-inch boards are against each 40-inch board and so the ends of each 24-inch board are 9 ¼ inches away from the edges of the 40-inch boards. Screw through the 40-inch boards and into the 24-inch boards on the base.

    • 4

Position projector shelf between the 40-inch boards so the plywood is flush with the top ends of the 40-inch boards. The ends of the 14-inch boards should be flush with the edges of the 40-inch boards. Screw through the 40-inch boards and into the projector shelf. Use four screws for this task.

    • 5

Screw the laptop shelf to the stand just as the base and the first shelf were screwed. It should be 4 inches below the projector stand and the ends of the 14-inch boards should be flush with the edges on the 40-inch boards that are opposite the edges that are flush with the 14-inch boards on the projector shelf.

    • 6

Screw the swivel wheels to the bottom edge of the 24-inch boards on the base. The swivel wheels should be flush with the ends of the boards. Use the hardware provided.
