How to Make a Sword Display Stand

Draw a line down the center of the 9-inch board so it is 2 inches away from each edge. Draw another line across the the center of the board, perpendicular to the first so that it is 4 1/2 inches away from the ends. Drill a 3-inch hole through the board where the lines intersect.

Cut the board in half on the 4-inch line using the miter saw. Erase the remaining pencil marks. These are the sides of the sword display stand.

Position the sides of the stand on the edges that have the half-circles. Place them parallell 14 inches apart. Set the 16-inch board on top of the sides so the corners are flush. Drill two pairs of 1/2-inch deep, 3/8-inch counter-sink holes that are spaced 3 inches apart, and a 1/2 inch away from each 4-inch edge of the 16-inch board. Screw the boards together using four screws.

Sand down your sword stand with your medium-grade and fine-grade sand paper. Wipe the stand down with your tack cloth and apply the wood stain. Let the stain dry according to the instructions.
