How to Make a Tripod Stand

Cut the ends of two 60-inch boards at a 32-degree angle. Only cut one end on each of the two boards and do not alter the original length.

Lay the two boards with the angled cuts flat and at a 64-degree angle. The angled cuts should be facing each other, parallel and spaced 1 inches apart. Lay the last 60-inch board between the cuts so the ends are flush. Drill a 1/4-inch hole through the three boards 1 inch away from the ends. Insert the bolt through the hole and tighten the wing nut around the bolt.

Drill a 1/2-inch-deep, 1/4-inch-diameter hole 30 inches away from either end of the two boards that have the angled cuts. With the tripod frame laying flat, these holes should be perpendicular to the ground. Insert a dowel into each hole.

Screw an eye-hook into the 30-inch center of the uncut 60-inch board so it is perpendicular to the ground. Screw another eye-hook into the 30-inch center of each cut 60-inch boards so they are parallel with the ground and pointing towards the center 60-inch board. Screw them into the dowels.

Stand the tripod up so it is resting on the three uncut ends. Spread the uncut 60-inch board away from the dowels on the other two boards and attach the three chains to the eye-hooks. The chains will keep the stand in a sturdy, upright position.
