Raise the blade on the table saw to 1/2 inch. Position the fence on the table saw ¼ inch away from the blade. Cut three groves in each board. There should be a 1/8-inch by 1/2-inch by 11-inch groove 1/8 inch away from each end of the board and another 1/8-inch by 1/2-inch groove 1/8 inch away from one of the 14-inch edges of each board. The grooves should all be on the same side of the board.
Set the 14-inch boards on edge, parallel, 11 inches apart, so that the 14-inch groove is parallel with and 1/8-inch above the ground. The grooves should be facing each other. Lay the plywood on top of the boards with the edges flush. Drill eight 3/32-inch holes through the plywood so that four enter the 1/2-inch center of each board's edge. Space the holes 3 inches apart and screw the plywood to the boards using all of the 3-inch screws.
Sand the helmet case using your medium-grade and then fine-grade sandpaper. Wipe it clean using your tack cloth, apply the wood stain and let it dry according to instructions.
Locate a stud in the wall where you would like to mount your case. Position the plywood against the wall and use your level to make sure the boards are horizontal. Screw the 4-inch screws through the plywood and into the stud.
Slide the two 12-inch glass sheets between the two pairs of grooves that are perpendicular to the wall. Place your mini-helmets or large helmet in the case and slide the 14-inch glass sheet in the grooves that are parallel with the wall.
