Check your local building ordnances to verify the grade and number of mobile home anchors needed for your geographic area. In areas of the country which are known for high winds and powerful storms, the specifications are more aggressive than in other areas of the country.
Drive the anchoring system into the ground before the trailer is driven onto the pad. Gaining adequate access to the ground surface is much easier before the mobile home is in place. If you're adding anchors to an existing home, this work can be done from under the home, but it will be more difficult.
Attach the galvanized steel strap to the anchoring system by wrapping it through the anchor, and fastening the strap to itself with a lead-crimped connector. This also needs to be done before the home is in place. Cut the strap so that it is roughly twice the length of the distance between the trailer pad and the height of the trailer.
Route the strap through one of the slots in the mobile home's metal structural framework, after the home is moved into place. Pull the strap tight, and fasten it with the lead-crimped anchor and metal strap buckle.
