How to Build a Metal Framed Breezeway

Your home could have an attached garage from the main house structure. To protect yourself from the weather while obtaining another cozy room to relax in on your way to the garage, you can add a breezeway to your property. A breezeway addition requires special planning on how the structure will be built and and what materials you have to order from the local building supply store. A quick way in making your breezeway is to use steel metal framing on a secure foundation.

Instructions

    • 1

Dig up the area where the foundation will go, clearing out any obstructions and shrubbery. Create a frame to pour concrete by using the 2-by-8 boards.

    • 2

Mix the concrete according to the manufacturer's instructions in the cement mixer. Pour the concrete into the bucket. Place the concrete in the frame and smooth with the trowel. Allow it to set.

    • 3

Place down the steel tracking to frame in the breezeway. Drill screws into the tracking to attach to the cement. Cut tracking with the chop saw to fit the area.

    • 4

Place up the steel studs in the tracking. Space the studs at 24 inches off-center. Place screws in the bottom of the studs with a crew gun to secure to the tracking. Lay a steel track on top of the studs to form the frame of the steel walls for the breezeway.

Place in the trusses depending on the type of roof you plan on installing. Once you have the framing installed, you can begin plans on adding drywall to finish the breeze way.
