How to Build Temporary Locker Rooms

Your amateur sports team may not have a place to change clothes and cool off during halftime and after the game. You can build a temporary locker room to store your equipment, clothes, shoes and coolers so you won't have to drive home covered in sweat and feeling uncomfortable.

Things You'll Need

Instructions

    • 1

Measure the dimensions in the location where you want to build your temporary locker room. Make sure the ground on which you are building is relatively level. Stake out the length and width of the structure using spray paint.

    • 2

Determine the required height for the walls of the locker room. A height of 12 feet will allow even the tallest players on your team to walk about comfortably without having to duck when entering the structure.

    • 3

Measure lengths of plywood using the chosen height measurement to make the walls of the temporary locker room. Use lengths of plywood that are 6 feet wide.

    • 4

Place the plywood boards along the spray-painted outline of the structure. Use a rubber mallet to hammer the boards down into the ground to keep the walls upright and stable. Leave an opening 5 feet wide to create an entrance to the temporary locker room.

    • 5

Cut a sheet of corrugated tin that will serve as a roof for the structure. Place the sheet of tin on top of the plywood walls.

    • 6

Lay a drop cloth down on the inside of temporary locker room to create a makeshift floor; this will prevent your clothing and gear from coming in contact with the ground.

    • 7

Bring in lockers for the locker room. You can find these used at auto body shops or at hardware stores. Arrange the lockers in one long row, or stack them on top of each other to save space.

    • 8

Take down the temporary locker room by taking off the sheet of tin, picking up the drop cloth and pulling the plywood boards out of the ground. You can store the materials needed to make the temporary locker room in your garage or shed.
