How to Put Metal Corners on a Framed Arch

You can place metal along the corners of a framed arch -- indoors or outdoors -- by using sheet metal and screws. The sheet metal should be a thin gauge, so that it is easy to bend around the arch's corners. You can even purchase preformed metal arches, you won't need to pound metal into a half-circle shape.

Things You'll Need

Instructions

    • 1

Attach a preformed metal arch span to the underside of the arch frame. Fasten at the point of the arch with .14-inch sheet metal screws. Place sheet metal screws at the ends of the arch span, to connect to the wooden studs.

    • 2

Place sheet metal against the wall along the arch. Trace the outline of the arch with a marker, to create the top opening.

    • 3

Cut out the outline with metal snips. Screw the sheet metal against the studs above and around the arch. Place a second piece of sheet metal on the other side.

    • 4

Place metal flashing along the corners of the arch. Bend the metal around the corner, and secure to the stud and floor with sheet metal screws.
