How to Anchor a Wood Frame to a Concrete Slab

Wood frames are anchored to cement slabs because this process will keep the frames from shifting when adding other elements, like trusses, to the frame. Without anchoring wood frames to cement slabs builders run the risk of danger to themselves and to their projects. This process of anchoring is not complicated, but it does require the knowledge of using industrial equipment.

Instructions

    • 1

Position your wood frame over your concrete slab in its final position. Measure and mark a spot every 12 inches on your wood frame. These marks should be centered on your wood frame from the edges. Use your tape measure to ensure this.

    • 2

Drill a hole through each of your markings on the wood frame and into the concrete. Use a drill bit the same size as your anchoring bolts.

    • 3

Pound your anchoring bolts into the holes on the wood frame with your hammer until they are 1/4 inch above the frame. Tighten the bolts using your wrench until they are snug. Do not over-tighten the bolts, because they may become loose in the concrete.
