How to Frame on Top of a Steel Base Angle

You can install a steel building on your property as an additional building to hold work tools, use as extra storage space or to shelter small livestock. By creating a solid concrete base with a notch, you can attach steel base angles that allow metal sheet panels to be attached. When properly installed with the framing panels, the building has a waterproof seal that prevents small pests from entering.

Things You'll Need

  • Concrete anchor
  • Tape measure
  • Drill
  • 1/8 inch drill bit
  • 1/8 inch screws

Instructions

    • 1

Drill holes into the concrete for the anchor screws to secure the base angles. Affix base angles that are 4-by-3-inches to have sufficient metal edges to secure the metal panels on to frame up the walls.

    • 2

Set in the anchor screws through the base angle and into the concrete. Lay out the metal panels and measure 2 inches up from the bottom.

    • 3

Drill a 1/8 inch hole into the panels, starting the first hole in the groove of the panel. Space the holes every 6 inches on center. Attach the metal panels to the base angles for the walls of the building.
