How to Make a Shower Curtain When You Don't Have Rings

Shower curtains are usually hung up on rods with large rings, but if your shower rod is removable, it’s not always necessary to create a shower curtain that way. Instead you can make a shower curtain like you would a normal curtain, with a fabric channel for the shower curtain rod to slip into. When making a shower curtain without rings, it’s best to use a waterproof fabric so the shower curtain won’t leak and make a mess in your bathroom.

Instructions

    • 1

Measure the length and width of your shower. Measure the width of the shower rod in your bathroom as well.

    • 2

Cut out a piece of waterproof fabric that is about 8 to 10 inches longer than your shower and 1 foot wider.

    • 3

Fold over the top of the fabric by 4 or 5 inches and pin it in place. The tunnel for the shower rod should be about 1 inch larger than the shower rod is wide so it’s easy to move.

    • 4

Sew the fabric in place, tucking under the raw edge with a ¼ inch seam allowance. Use a straight stitch on the sewing machine.

    • 5

Remove the shower rod from the shower and slip the shower curtain onto the rod. Place the rod back into the shower.
