How to Align the Mounting Clips for a Kohler Persuade Toilet Installation

Place the end of a tape measure against the finished wall behind the spot where you are installing the Persuade toilet. Extend the tape measure forward, measuring the distance from the wall to the center of the flange to verify that it is 12 inches.

Scrape any old wax from the top of the closet flange, using a putty knife. Position the cutout template, included with the Persuade toilet, directly on top of the closet flange. Place a strip of tape over each corner of the template to hold it in place.

Install a 3/8-inch drill bit in a power drill. Position the tip of the bit over each of the two mounting holes diagrammed on the template. Drill through the template, down into the floor, using the power drill.

Place the tip of a screwdriver on the floor to mark where the template indicates the toilet footprint, directly parallel to each mounting hole. Position a screwdriver alongside each mounting hole. Remove the template from the floor, leaving the two screwdrivers in place.

Push an anchor (included with the floor mounted fixing pack) into each mounting hole, using your hand. Tap the anchors gently in, using a hammer, if necessary.

Place a mounting clip or bracket on top of each mounting hole. Position each bracket with the slot facing down and the bracket side facing out.

Measure 1/4 inch from where the screwdrivers indicate the toilet footprint to the outside edge of each mounting bracket, using the tape measure. Position each mounting bracket so that the outside edge leaves a 1/4-inch gap to the screwdriver edge. Install a bolt through each bracket's slot into the anchor in the mounting hole. Use a socket wrench with an appropriate size socket to install the bolts.

Remove the screwdrivers from the floor. Lower the Persuade toilet bowl down onto the floor over the mounting brackets. Confirm that the side holes in the toilet bowl align with the mounting brackets.
