How to Install Finished Toilet Seat Hinges

When remodeling or redecorating your bathroom, the toilet seat should not be overlooked. Toilet seat hinges are available in a variety of styles and finishes. Designer toilet seats often are coupled with specially finished metal hinges that compliment the seat material, and are intended to match bathroom decor and plumbing fixtures. The process of installing a finished toilet seat with finished hinges is straightforward, and requires only a little know-how and some basic DIY tools.

      Slide your two toilet seat mounting bolts through the holes at the rear of your toilet base. These bolts are provided with your finished toilet seat and protrude downward from the underside of the seat at the rear to fasten the seat and cover to the toilet base below.

      Slide a washer (provided) over the mounting bolt on the underside of the toilet base. Thread your two mounting nuts onto the mounting bolts at the underside of the toilet base by turning them in a clockwise direction.

      Tighten the mounting nuts to the mounting bolts using your ratchet set and deep well socket. Tighten them all the way so the toilet seat is held tightly in position.
