Instructions

    • 1

Clean the entire surface of the bathtub and vanity with an alcohol-based cleanser. You can purchase these cleansers at any hardware store or home improvement warehouse. If you prefer, you can use straight acetone or rubbing alcohol instead.

    • 2

Sand the entire surface of the bathtub and vanity with a palm sander. Turn the sander on before you apply it to the surface of the bathtub. Continue to sand until the entire surface is roughened. Sanding the surface makes it easier for the new paint to adhere properly.

    • 3

Cover the faucets on your bathtub, the hot and cold water knobs and the floor around the bathtub and vanity with drop cloths. Also cover any other surfaces you do not want to get paint on.

    • 4

Apply a bonding agent to the bathtub and vanity. Follow the instructions when applying the bonding agent. These bonding agents come in liquid form, and you can apply them with a clean towel, a rag or a spray bottle. Apply the bonding agent to the entire surface of the bathtub and vanity, then allow it to dry for five minutes. You can paint the vanity with the spray gun while you are waiting for the paint on the bathtub to dry.

    • 5

Place the epoxy paint in your paint spray gun. Mix the epoxy paint according to the directions on the package. Once the spray gun is full, spray the bathtub with a wide sweeping motion. Allow the paint to dry completely, then apply the next coat.

Apply an acrylic clear coat to the bathtub and vanity after the epoxy paint has dried completely. Allow the top coat to dry, then apply a second one.
