Ask a friend or family member to hold your shower curtain up in front of the shower. Step back and examine the curtain, asking that the volunteer move it as necessary until the curtain is at the proper height.
Mark the drywall on one side of the shower curtain with a pencil. Put the shower curtain aside. Measure the distance from the mark to the floor. Measure the distance from the mark to the rear shower wall.
Transfer your measurements to the opposite shower wall. Make a mark on the drywall with a pencil. This ensures that the two ceramic shower rod holders are directly opposite one another and your shower rod does not hang at an angle.
Screw a cement board anchor into the mark you made on the drywall on each side. The anchor allows you to hang your ceramic rod holder on the wall without fear of it pulling out and breaking.
Push a screw through the opening on your ceramic shower rod hanger. Place the end of the screw into the hollow opening on the cement board anchor. Screw the fixture in until the ceramic shower rod hanger lies flush with the wall. Do this on both sides.
Hang your shower rod and curtains.
