How to Install a Bidet Faucet

Bidets, a French invention from the late 17th century, use a faucet that releases an upward spray of water to clean a person’s genitalia and buttocks area. Installing a faucet for your bidet is not a difficult task, requiring only basic plumbing skills. The hardware needed for your faucet installation, such as the pop-up assembly, should come included with your bidet, depending on where you purchased the bidet. Each bidet and bidet faucet differs slightly in design, so read the manufacturer’s instructions carefully before beginning the installation process.

Instructions

Turn off the water supply to the bathroom. Remove the hardware from the faucet socket using an adjustable wrench and a screwdriver. Clean in and around the socket opening thoroughly with dish soap, water and a clean rag.

    • 2

Fit the bidet faucet into the socket. Turn the faucet so that it faces forward, and secure it to the socket with plastic nuts, included with the faucet hardware. Tighten the nuts with your adjustable wrench. Wrap plumber’s tape around the bottom of the bolts.

    • 3

Attach the water line to the opening located on the bottom side of the bidet faucet. Thread bolts into the inlets set into the bottom of the bidet faucet and secure them with your wrench.

    • 4

Take off the flange and stopper from the bidet so you can install the pop up assembly included with your faucet hardware. Place a gasket and washer beneath the nut for the assembly, then place the pop-up assembly into position, and screw down the nut. Remove the tailpiece form the bidet and wrap it in plumber’s tape. Then, replace the tailpiece.

Coat the bottom side of the previously removed flange with silicon adhesive. Screw it back into position after installing the pop-up assembly. Turn the assembly so that it faces the direction of the bidet faucet. Tighten the nut with your wrench to secure it. Attach the guide rod, which connects to the switch to activate the bidet, to the pop-up assembly.
