How to Adhere a Shower Faucet Bar to Tile

Some shower faucet assemblies come with a bar on which a handheld showerhead is mounted. The showerhead can slide up and down on its bracket that mounts to the bar. Allowing you to use the spray at different levels without holding the showerhead in your hands. Drilling into a tile shower surround requires you to use tape to keep the drill bit from skipping off the point where you need to drill, otherwise you may damage the tile unnecessarily.

Instructions

    • 1

Measure the distance between the mounting holes on the backside of the shower bar. Determine where on the shower wall you wish to install the shower bar, and transfer your measurements to the wall, marking them with pieces of masking tape.

    • 2

Place an “X” made of masking tape where you marked the bar’s mount points on the wall. Drill pilot holes in the masking tape, stopping once the drill bit penetrates into the hollow wall or the wall stud.

    • 3

Insert hollow wall anchors into the guide holes if the drill bit did not contact a wall stud. Press the wall anchors into the pilot holes so the edges of the anchors sit flush with the wall tiles. Peel the masking tape off the tile wall.

    • 4

Remove the decorative cap off the ends of the shower bar, giving you free access to the mounting holes from the front of the shower bar. Position the bar on the wall so the mounting holes line up with the pilot holes you drilled.

    • 5

Drive screws into the pilot holes or wall anchors through the holes in the shower bar. Stop once the screws hold the bar tightly in place against the wall. Replace the decorative caps on the shower bar.
