Mounting Instructions for Recessed Toilet Paper Holders

Bathroom design is often the focus of cable television home renovation shows. One of the necessary items in any bathroom is the toilet paper holder. Typically one of the least attractive fixtures in the bathroom, this piece can find itself as a standard wall-mounted unit, a decorative free-standing or a recessed in-wall holder. These models can be mounted into a wall opening or secured to a wood block behind the wall.

Things You'll Need

  • Measuring tape
  • Shop knife or long razor that can cut through dry wall
  • Recessed toilet paper holder kit with mounting hardware
  • Flathead or Philips-head screwdriver, depending on the kit
  • Toilet paper roll

Instructions

    • 1

Measure and mark a 5 1/4-inch square where you want to mount your toilet paper holder. Using a shop knife, cut a square opening in the wall.

    • 2

Screw the toilet paper holder into the wood block using the enclosed hardware and a screwdriver.

    • 3

Slide a roll of toilet paper on the roller assembly. Press the ends of the roller assembly inward and snap them into the assembly holder. The roller assembly is spring-loaded to stay fastened and permit easy replacement of empty rolls.
