How to Cover a Wood Frame Window in a Shower

A wooden frame in a bathroom window can be prone to rot -- especially if the window is in the shower stall. Many people coat the shower window frame with latex paint, but moisture can still seep through. Even if you have a powerful bathroom fan that sucks out moisture quickly, the wood on a shower window frame is still prone to damage. There are ways to coat and treat the window frame so that it is completely waterproof.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn off your shower and let all moisture evaporate from the stall. Wait for the shower and window frame to completely dry.

    • 2

Place masking tape on the borders of the window frame to ensure you do not paint over the stall walls.

    • 3

Apply one coat of primer to the window frame using your brush. Wait for the primer to dry.

    • 4

Apply a coat of polyurethane paint in the color of your choice to the frame. Wait for it to dry.

    • 5

Apply another coat of polyurethane paint to the frame and allow it to dry. Apply more coats of paint until the desired depth of color is reached.

    • 6

Remove the masking tape from the frame.
