How to Cut a Curved Shower Rod to Correct Size

Curved shower rods do not come custom-fitted to the dimensions of a combination shower and bathtub. You must accurately measure the space the rod will fit in and cut the rod so it fits in the space. A curved shower rod comes with mounting hardware. Keep it nearby when measuring how much of the rod to cut off since the mounting hardware needs to fit between the walls along with the rod.

Instructions

    • 1

Place pieces of masking tape on the walls to mark the height where you wish to install the curved shower rod’s mounts. This helps ensure the measurement of the distance between the walls is accurate.

    • 2

Measure the open side of the shower enclosure where you wish to install the rod, touching the measuring tape to the piece of tape you placed on the wall. Measure between the walls where you want to anchor the curved shower rod a second time to ensure the figure is accurate.

    • 3

Insert the mounting posts onto the end of the curved shower rod, and place the rod and mounting posts on the floor. Measure the distance between the ends of the mounting posts twice.

    • 4

Remove the mounting posts from the ends of the shower rod. Measure from one end of the rod the amount the rod and mounting posts exceeded the distance between the walls.

    • 5

Cut along the line with a hacksaw.
