How to Install a Tuscany Shower Faucet

Turn the water off at the water main for the house. Open the faucet and drain out any water in the lines.

Remove the old shower faucet. Generally, you need to remove a screw in the handle so that the handle can come off. Once the handle is off, you can remove the escutcheon plate, or beauty ring. Use the adjustable wrench to loosen the nut that holds the valve itself onto the pipes. Once this is removed, you can install the new Tuscany shower faucet.

Insert the new valve where the old one was removed. Start the retaining nut by hand, taking care to twist it on straight. If it gets cross-threaded -- meaning that the threads are not lining up correctly -- the faucet will leak at best or be damaged beyond repair at worst. Tighten the nut with the adjustable wrench.

Install the escutcheon plate. Place the handle over the valve and hold into place with a screw. Turn the water back on and test the faucet. If everything is working correctly, seal the faucet escutcheon plate with silicone.

Load the caulk into the caulking gun. Cut the tip of the caulk tube off. Squeeze the handle on the caulk gun until the caulk starts to emerge. Run a bead of caulk around the escutcheon plate. Run a fingertip around the plate over the caulk. This pushes the caulk firmly against the plate and the wall. It also makes for a tidy caulk line.
