Mounting an Undermount Bowl to a Granite Vanity

Undermount sink bowls have become a popular fixture in many homes. This type of sink is used in kitchens, laundry rooms and bathrooms. Undermount sinks are best used with a solid surface counter top, like granite. The sink is attached to the underside of the counter top and then connected to the plumbing. Once in place, homeowners can quickly and easily wipe water or dirt from the counter top directly into the sink bowl without worrying about a sink lip.

Instructions

    • 1

Clean the sink and granite counter top surfaces. Use rubbing alcohol and a cloth to clean the areas on the bowl and vanity counter top that will be touching.

    • 2

Apply high strength epoxy on the underside of the counter top where the sink is going to be mounted. Mix the epoxy per manufacturer directions.

    • 3

Place a cloth on the top side of the granite counter top. Set a board on top of the cloth. Press the undermount bowl into place under the granite counter top. Place a small board under the drain opening of the sink bowl. Tie the two boards together with a piece of wire. The wire should clamp the undermount bowl in place while the epoxy dries.

    • 4

Wipe away the excess epoxy that has been pushed out of the sides of the undermount bowl. Let the epoxy dry for 24 hours before removing the boards and connecting the plumbing.
