How to Install an Undermount Sink to a Marble Vanity

A marble vanity top is an elegant way to introduce color and pattern into a bathroom design. One of the benefits of using this type of material for a vanity top is the ability to place the sink beneath the countertop, rather than hanging it from its rim. This undermounted style of sink gives a sleek, clean appearance to the bathroom. The lack of an exterior rim also makes the counter easier to wipe down, making the installation user friendly as well.

Things You'll Need

  • Towel
  • Soft cloth
  • Silicone adhesive
  • Epoxy
  • Mounting hardware that comes with the sink

Instructions

    • 1

Place a towel down on a work table to help protect the surface of the marble while you are working. Place the marble top upside down on the table, exposing its underside.

    • 2

Wipe down the area around the sink hole on the marble to free it of dust or debris. Position the sink over the hole to double check its fit and placement. Remove the sink and set it aside.

    • 3

Squeeze a thin bead of silicone adhesive around the edge of the sink hole cutout on the marble. Turn the sink upside down so its rim faces the marble and lower it gently into place.

    • 4

Use epoxy to attach the stems of the sink mounting clips to the marble just outside of the sink's rim. Spread the mounting clips out around the sink so they are evenly spaced. Hold each stem in place for a moment to allow the epoxy to grab hold. Allow the epoxy to dry for 10 minutes.

    • 5

Attach the upper portion of the sink mounting clips to the sink's rim, directly next to the stems. Use the epoxy to attach them, holding them in place until the epoxy grabs and waiting 10 minutes for the epoxy to dry completely.

Fit the top of the mounting clips down over the stems and use a wrench to tighten the bolts into place that hold the two pieces together. Let the epoxy dry overnight before attaching the countertop to the vanity.
