How to Install an ASB 38 Inch Neo-Angle Shower Kit

ASB 38-inch Neo-Angle shower kits are fairly easy to install yourself if you have some experience with plumbing and home improvement projects. Go over the itemized parts list enclosed with the kit to make sure you have all of the pieces before beginning this project. Also, make sure the room temperature is at least 60 degrees Fahrenheit so that the adhesive and caulk will dry properly.

Instructions

    • 1

Set the Neo-angle shower base in place. Trace the outline of the base on the drywall with a pencil. Remove the shower base and cut the drywall away below the pencil line with a utility knife so the base edges will rest against the wall studs. Move the front corner lines in to adjust for the thickness of the drywall.

    • 2

Set the Neo-angle shower base in place. Make an outline of the shower base drain hole on the floor with a pencil. Remove the base and use a reciprocating saw to cut the hole in the floor for the drain. Install the shower drain pipe, making sure the top of the drain pipe is flush with the floor.

    • 3

Install the drain body in the bottom of the Neo-angle shower base with a rubber ring gasket on the top and beneath the shower base. Tighten the large hex nut by hand.

    • 4

Set the shower base in place. Use a level to make sure it is level. Apply floor-leveling compound to the floor, if necessary, to achieve a level foundation for the base.

    • 5

Glue the filler strip along the top edge of the shower base. Make sure the strip is flush with the drywall along the top of the shower base.

    • 6

Push the rubber drain seal expansion ring into the rubber drain seal. Spread a small amount of liquid soap or pipe joint lubricant around the inside and outside of the rubber drain seal, the drain pipe and the inner rim of the drain body.

    • 7

Place the rubber drain seal in the drain body with the expansion ring facing up. Use a rubber mallet and scrap piece of pipe to drive the drain seal to the bottom of the drain body. Run a bead of caulk around the expander. Install the drain screen or strainer on top of the drain body.

    • 8

Measure 1 1/2 inches in from the front corners of the Neo-angle shower base and use the level and pencil to draw a straight line up the wall for the outer edges of the wall panels. Set the wall panels and shower caddy in place. Trace the top edge of the shower caddy onto the wall panels. Mark where the shower head and fixtures will be located on the wall panel.

    • 9

Remove the wall panels and shower caddy. Use a hole saw to cut the holes in the wall panel for the shower fixtures. Shorten the wall panels to the same height as the shower caddy by scoring them with a utility knife and snapping the excess off by hand.

    • 10

Spread adhesive on one wall with a trowel and set the first wall panel in place. Follow the same procedure for the second wall. Assemble the corner caddy. Use construction adhesive and caulk to affix the caddy in place.

    • 11

Install the wall jams with the slots facing in toward the shower. Assemble the door and front panel framing. Install the front stationary panels. Run a bead of caulk along the bottom of the door frame between the frame and bulb seal.

    • 12

Assemble the header framing and install it on top of the front panels. Install the Neo-angle shower door and adjust the pivot brackets until the door opens smoothly.

    • 13

Caulk around the base and along the joints on the outside. Caulk the wall jambs, vertical seams, slots and screw heads on the inside. Install snap clips in the holes along the top and bottom framing.
