Eastern Bath Refinishing

Founded in 1971 in Indiana, Eastern Refinishing provides services throughout the United States. The company restores old bathtubs, making them appear brand-new. Refinishing bathtubs includes damage repair, as well as surface preparation and application of a new finish. Rather than go to the expense of installing a new bathtub, refinish your current tub for less time and money. You can also change the color of your bathtub with refinishing.
  1. Costs

    • Bathtub refinishing, also known as resurfacing or reglazing, is less expensive than tub replacement. While you might purchase a new tub for a reasonable price, labor costs for the old tub's removal, plumbing and installation of a new tub outweigh any potential savings. Refinished bathtubs should retain their appearance for at least 10 years, but the company provides a five-year guarantee. Besides bathtubs, Eastern Refinishing also refinishes showers, counter tops, tile, spas and swimming pools.

    Process

    • The refinishing process is relatively straightforward. The technician applies a urethane polymer to the tub for finish restoration. Once it dries, this durable hard finish gives the tub a new appearance, along with ease of maintenance and cleaning. Depending on the condition of the individual tub, work should be completed within a few hours. Tubs with previously applied substances such as paint must be stripped before refinishing, which adds approximately one hour to the job. However, the entire process only involves one day of work at the maximum.

    Preparation

    • Prior to the refinisher's arrival, make sure the tub's faucets do not leak. Remove any loose items from the bathroom and clear all counters and shelves. If doing overall bathroom remodeling, Eastern Refinishing recommends refinishing the tub after all other work is done. Eastern Refinishing schedules appointments for work within 7 to 10 business days after your initial call. You can use your refinished tub within 16 hours of the polymer application.

    Maintenance

    • After refinishing, use only mild, non-abrasive cleaners on your bathtub. Do not use bleach or cleaners containing lemon, as these may damage the finish or color. Eastern Refinishing's bathtub coatings should not stain, yellow with use or dull during the warranty period as long as the tub is properly cleaned and maintained.
