How to Hang a Corner Shower Rod from the Ceiling

Ceiling-mounted corner shower rods may be less common than wall-mounted or tension shower rods, but they're not any more difficult to install. Styles among ceiling-mounted shower rods vary significantly, but each style adheres to the ceiling in a similar manner. Because the installation work can be challenging because of its overhead nature, it's helpful to recruit the assistance of a family member or friend who can pass you tools and hardware while you're up on the ladder.

Instructions

    • 1

Place a ladder directly under the portion of the bathroom ceiling from which you plan to hang the shower rod. Climb the ladder -- with the shower-rod track in hand -- and place the shower-rod track against the ceiling.

    • 2

Measure from each end of the track to the wall, and reposition the track until it's equally spaced between the walls. Mark the location of the track's mounting holes with a pencil.

    • 3

Remove the shower-rod track. Drill holes in the ceiling in the spots you marked with the pencil. Refer to the shower rod's instruction manual to determine what size drill bit to use. Use a drill bit that's slightly smaller than the anchors that came with the rod if no such instructions exist.

    • 4

Push the anchors into the holes you drilled in the ceiling. Tap each anchor lightly with a hammer if the anchors are difficult to push into the holes.

    • 5

Position the shower-rod track on the ceiling. Make sure that the mounting holes are aligned with the anchors. Fasten the track to the ceiling by screwing the mounting screws into the anchors until tight. The track must sit flush on the ceiling.

    • 6

Hang the shower-curtain hooks from the loops along the shower-rod track. Hang the shower curtain from the hooks.
